FIRST ROBOTICS COMPETITION (FRC)

FIRST Robotics Competition is a Sport for the Mind. Each season High-school students (grades 9 -12/ages 14-18) are given a new challenge and under strict rules, limited time and resources, they design, prototype, build and program 125-lb robots to play a field game against other competitors.

QCRA zone has two FRC teams: Yeti Robotics Team 3506 and Bots on Wheels Team 4290.

FRC Team 3506 YETI
Team Bio

YETI began ten years ago with only 16 students and 7 mentors in Charlotte, North Carolina. YETI won multiple Chairman’s awards for their efforts to engage the Charlotte community in STEM. YETI has founded many FIRST Tech Challenge and FIRST Lego League teams to continuously encourage students to join the team.

YETI Robotics also co-founded the Queen City Robotics Alliance, a 501(c)3 organization, with BOW 4290,  T-Rex 4935, and Royal Robotics 3701.

During the summer of 2019 in partnership with our very own PREPARE a 501(c)3 formed by our Business Co-Captain, we started an FLL team and two FTC team in southern INDIA.

For more information about the team, the outreach we do, what awards we've won, please visit our website at yetirobotics.org.

FIRST TECH CHALLENGE (FTC)

FIRST Tech Challenge teams (up to 15 team members, grades 7-12) are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge in an alliance format.

We are a group of friends who have known each other for as long as we can remember. We’ve always been so different yet very similar. We have done a lot of stuff together and now, we made our very own robotics team. Though all of us are extremely good at certain things but not as good at others, instead of being assigned to what we are good at, we do everything. We help each other whenever we need help and we improve our skills together as a team. Our goal is to expand our knowledge and be flexible in every way possible. This year we started as a rookie team, and our goal is to learn about robotics, engineering, programming and numerous other skills, so that we are better prepared for the 21st century.
